Mission
In line with this vision, the Department’s mission is outlined as the following:
Instruction
Ensure curricular relevance astride other departments of the College of Mass Communication. Project core values of excellence in instruction and research, engendering an interdisciplinary attitude.
Research
Develop and promote basic and applied communication studies. Advise and supervise the thesis programs of communication research undergraduate and graduate students in terms of direction, thrust, and incentive.
Extension
Establish working linkages with other institutions, organizations, groups, and individuals in view of attendant and subsidiary departmental concerns.
DEPARTMENT GOALS
“The Department seeks to be a dynamic, sufficiently funded, extensively networked, and well-marketed Institute for Communication Studies (ICS) offering academic degree programs as well as research and extension services within the next decade.”
